Proposed changes to the 2016 ABPI Code of Practice
The proposed changes to the 2016 ABPI Code of Practice were released on 29 August 2018 and are now available on the PMCPA website. They cover changes to the Code, the constitution, the disclosure template and proposals to create a new principles document and Q&A document. Don’t forget you have until 10 October to comment and have your say on the consultation.
There are some efficiency improving proposals, including a new category of final signatory to cover certifying some meetings and the ability to link out to prescribing information in promotional emails. There is clarification of some digital activities and an interesting Q&A document – the answers we hope will give welcome clarification, especially for digital comms.
If you’ve not got round to digesting all the information I’m running a free webinar on Thursday 20 September 2018 at 1.00pm – 1.45pm BST, to run through the changes and explain what the proposals are and why. If you’d like to join this free webinar, you can register your details here:

If all goes to plan, the new Code will come into force on 1 January 2019. Our diary is already filling up with in-house refresher training sessions covering the changes and the new and noteworthy cases from the last 12-24 months. Do get in touch if you’d like to book an in-house update session. Alternatively why not try our Code up to date webinars – just ask if you’d like to try a session.
